The Democracy Space Station (DSS) is here, and it is pure chaos

The Democracy Space Station (DSS) has been the focal point of Helldivers 2’s major operations over the past few months. During its construction, we were tasked with gathering additional resources and fending off relentless assaults from the Automaton’s Jet Brigade. Now that the DSS is complete and operational, one final objective remains before its full activation: we must maintain control over Gaellivare by the end of this major order. Alternatively, we can go for the Defense Gambit and liberate Mastia, which will immediately end the Jet Brigade offensive on Gaellivare.

Where the true chaos begins, whichever planet the Democracy Space Station orbits is subject to Planetary Bombardment. The entire planet is relentlessly shelled by 380mm Orbital Cannons for the duration of the mission. These shells definitely speed up the mission, often working in your favor by destroying enemy objectives. For example, tackling a Destroy Command Bunkers mission? There’s nothing quite as satisfying as watching a random 380mm shell obliterate such an undemocratic fortification. It’s pure chaos, it’s glorious… and players hate it.

The Democratic Space Station is currently stationed above Mastia, unleashing devastation across the planet with its formidable 77 PRESIDENTIAL-Class Cannons.

But that’s not all—the DSS isn’t just a chaotic force of destruction; it’s a superweapon that can be wielded by the community.

TACTICAL ACTIONS

The Planetary Bombardment is just one of three Tactical Actions available to the community. Players can contribute resources to any of the three options, and once a contribution reaches 100%, the corresponding action is activated.

“Planetary Bombardment”, which we’re all familiar with:

“The DSS fires nonstop orbital bombardments from its suite of 77 PRESIDENTIAL-Class Cannons, providing planetwide artillery and accelerating liberation efforts.”

“Fires periodic (380mm) Orbital Barrages during missions. Accelerates progress in Liberation Campaigns.”

All Tactical Actions have received a temporary set of buffs due to player backlash.

Next up, “Eagle Storm”

“DSS crews maintain deployment of a 24-hour rotating fleet of Eagle Fighters from the massive three-tiered Convocation Bay, supporting all Helldiver operations on the planet with close air support and slowing enemy offensives.”

“Deploys periodic Eagle Airstrikes during missions. Slows enemy progress in Defense Campaigns.”

Finally, “Orbital Blockade”

“The DSS activates its Zero G Anti-Ship Missile System, targeting all large enemy spacecraft attempting to exit the planet’s atmosphere. In addition, diverts excess manpower to Super Destroyer logistical support.”

“Defense Campaigns cannot originate from this planet. The HELLPOD SPACE OPTIMIZATION Booster is automatically active for all missions.”

These Tactical Actions have the potential to be a gamechanger in the galactic war, as the DSS can strategically relocate from planet to planet, bringing its immense firepower wherever it’s needed most.

STATION LOCATION

The DSS has the ability to travel between various planets, allowing the community to strategically position it on key locations during major operations.

Currently, Mastia and Gaellivare are critical to the ongoing major order: liberating Mastia would instantly end the assault on Gaellivare, and Gaellivare be in Super Earth’s control by the end of ther operation. The destination is determined by a community vote, with the majority deciding where the DSS will deploy—It’s a beautiful display of democracy.
