Helldivers 2 has faced challenges with game balance, trying to satisfy both veteran and casual players. On one hand, seasoned divers enjoy the challenge and feel that weapon nerfs are justified. On the other, many casual players want to progress and gather samples without having to engage in the game’s most extreme difficulty every time they play.
Numerous balance patches have been introduced, but the back-and-forth adjustments led to significant backlash after the last round of nerfs. In response, Arrowhead promised to fix and redesign the game’s balancing within 60 days to make it more enjoyable for everyone.
Over the past few days, the community manager has been teasing upcoming changes in the official Discord. Here’s what we know so far:
A BUFF A DAY KEEPS THE BUGS AWAY
We’re excited to share more details about upcoming update, which will include significant changes aimed at improving your experience in Helldivers 2.
From now on, every day we will shed more and more light on the September 17th update.
Buff no. 1: Flamethrowers
We’ve heard you loud and clear and Flamethrower damage is increased by 33%!
Flamer mechanics will be reverted to the state before the Escalation of Freedom update and flamebased weapons can now damage heavier enemies like Chargers, Bile Titans, Impalers and Hulks.
Buff no. 2: The Railgun
The Railgun’s damage will get a boost too! Durable damage will be increased from 60 to 225 and fully overcharging damage will be increased from 150% to 250%.
Buff no. 3: The Breaker
Here goes the long awaited Breaker update! Now it comes with an extended magazine which holds 16 shells and stagger force increased from 10 to 15.
Buff? no. 4: Rocket Devastator Changes
Rocket Devastators now have a limited number of rockets, and you can see them disappear when they are spent. A reload mechanic is added from their backpack to replenish the rockets.
In addition, the rocket physics collision is now smaller, making them easier to avoid.
Buff no. 5: The Eruptor!
Eruptor went through some big changes too. Shrapnel is back!
We have replaced the original shrapnel with the Frag Grenade shrapnel to no longer instantly one-shot Helldivers with the exception of the occasional unlucky headshot.
The amount of shrapnel is also increased and explosion radius increased by 33%.
Buff no. 6: The Arc Thrower
Arc Thrower will get closer to it’s former glory with some extra on the top.
A moderate stun effect is added that builds up on its targets and the range got an increase from 35 to 55. Durable damage will also be increased from 50 to 100.
And did we mention it now jumps additional times?
Buff no. 7: 500KG Bomb Changes
Eagle 500kg bomb explosion radius is now increased to match visuals better. Just sit back and enjoy the show
