Most Terminids are melee attackers, with only a select few that can spit acid from a distance. This makes close-range weapons such as shotguns and SMGs particularly effective against them. Conversely, heavier armors are less useful than lighter armors, which makes for easier kiting.
Terminids are extremely aggressive and will pursue you relentlessly, and you will need to be on high alert the entire time while playing through a Helldive mission.

Here are the weak spots and weaknesses for each Terminid unit in Helldivers 2.
Infantry Weak Spots
Weak Spots: Head, Legs | Light Armor | Slow Enemy | Minimal Threat
Weakest and slowest Terminids unit, but even they can manage to kill you in just a few of hits if you let them sneak up on you.
When there’s an entire swarm of them, we recommend using an Eagle or some Grenades instead of wasting ammo. On higher difficulties, you’ll rarely see Scavengers as they will be replaced by either Warriors or Bile Spitters.
Weak Spots: Head, Legs | Light Armor | Fast Enemy | Moderate Threat
These baby Hunters can leap across vast distances and often move in groups. It’s not unusual to see two or even three Pouncers simultaneously jumping towards you. They can generally be taken down with just one or two shots from your weapon, assuming you can land a hit, as they are slippery little buggers that like to dodge by jumping side to side. However, one of the most effective counters to Pouncers is deploying a Guard Dog, particularly the Rover version with the Laser, which can quickly lock on to and eliminate them.
Weak Spots: Head, Legs | Light Armor | Slow Enemy | Low Threat
The frontline infantry of the Terminids. Warriors aren’t tanky, but they do pack a powerful punch and tend to move in groups.
- While they are slow moving, it only takes 2-3 hits for them to kill a Helldiver.
- Headshots will swiftly neutralize them, but we recommend aiming for the legs.
- If decapitated, has a chance to go berserk where they will charge at you and can deal extra damage.
Weak Spots: Head, Legs | Light Armor | Fast Enemy | High Threat
- When shooting at them, they will attempt to dodge from side to side to evade incoming shots.
- It only takes about two hits from a Hunter to down a Helldiver, and they can use their tongues to knock you off your feet, sending you flying.
- Additionally, their attacks apply an acidic effect that slows you down by 30% for four seconds, with the effect refreshing each time you’re hit by a Hunter.
Weak Spots: Head, Legs | Light Armor | Slow Enemy | Ranged | Low Threat | Explodes on Death
The Bile Spitter possesses the ability to launch blobs of acid at a short distance. If these blobs hit you, they will slow you down by 30% for four seconds, with the effect renewing each time you’re struck by another acid blob. Additionally, Bile Spitters will explode upon death, causing damage to nearby Helldivers and Terminids alike. They are incredibly weak like Scavengers, but because of their ability to slow you down with acid, they also can’t be ignored. When there’s an entire swarm of them, we recommend using an Eagle or some Grenades instead of wasting ammo.
Pro Tip: When Slowed by Acid, dive to immediately get rid of the effect. Diving also works if you’re on fire!
Weak Spots: Head, Legs | Light Armor | Slow Enemy | Low Threat | Explodes on Death
Warrior variant with all of the same behaviors and stats of a normal warrior, however they will also explode upon death, which damages both nearby Helldivers and Terminids.
Weak Spots: Sides, Belly, and Rear Legs | Medium Armor | Slow Enemy | Moderate Threat
Another variant of the Warrior, the Hive Guard, features Medium Armor covering its front legs and head. When under attack, the Hive Guard hunkers down, becoming stationary to minimize gaps in its armor.
If you move quickly, you can run around to its side and shoot its unarmored, vulnerable body or rear legs.
- Additionally, the Hive Guard may enter a berserk state when its health is low, and this doesn’t require decapitation to trigger.
- Its final ability is burrowing: it can dive underground and reemerge right beneath you, a tactic it commonly employs when you are positioned on a rock or hill out of its reach.
Specialists
Weak Spots: Head, Legs, and Rear Legs | Light Armor | Flying Enemy | High Threat
Shriekers, a type of flying Terminid, are sometimes seen in flying patrols but are mainly encountered when you are near a Shrieker Nest.
They have very low health, typically requiring just 1-2 shots to kill. However, their sheer numbers and because they divert your attention from other ground-based Terminids, makes them a significant threat.
They are known for their hit-and-run tactics: swooping in for an attack, then flying off to circle back and strike again. They are highly susceptible to fire, making the Flamethrower and Incendiary Breaker particularly effective weapons against them.
Be wary that their bodies can still cause damage if shot down; they may ragdoll and collide with you even after death.
Wings are Durable, do not shoot them.
Weak Spots: Head, Legs | Light Armor | Fast Enemy | Severe Threat | Goes Invisible
The Stalker is an ambush assassin that uses invisibility to close in undetected. Often, it uses its tongue to send Helldivers flying a considerable distance. Its claws are deadly, capable of two-shotting Helldivers, even those in heavy armor.
These only spawn from Stalker Nests but have the ability to roam across the entire map a considerable distance from their nest.
- High-stagger weapons like the JAR-5 or Punisher are very effective at stopping them in their tracks.
- Due to their swift movements, Stun Grenades are challenging to land accurately.
- You can mark them once they become visible and the marker will stay even after they go invisible again.
- They can be easily seen even when invisible if they are bloodied or on fire.
Weak Spots: Head, Belly (Explosives) | Light Armor | Slow Enemy | Ranged | High Threat
Bullet sponge. Emits fog while alive. Shoots lethal acid that slows you down 30% for 4 seconds.
Weak Spots: Head, Belly (Explosives) | Medium Armor | Slow Enemy | Ranged | High Threat
- A tougher Nursing Spewer, sporting Medium Armor. On difficulty 6 and above, Bile Spewers will deploy “Mortar Mode” and be able to shoot you from afar.
- Shoot at the abdomen if you don’t have Medium Penetrating Guns.
- The best way to dispatch them is explosives under the belly/abdomen.
- They will explode on death, damaging other bugs. Multiple Bile Spewers can cause a chain-reaction and take out an entire field of bugs.
Heavies
Weak Spots: Head | Heavy Armor | Fast Enemy | Severe Threat
Heavily Armored Tank. Charges at you like a bull and will slowly turn around if they miss. The most effective way to deal with them is a headshot from an Anti-Tank weapon.
- Anti-Tank weapons can blow off bits of body armor, exposing the unarmored flesh below that you can use Light Weapons on.
- Step to the side or dive at the last second to avoid their charge.
- Stun Grenades are extremely effective. Having them run into a wall will stun them.
Weak Spots: Head | Heavy Armor | Fast Enemy | Critical Threat
- Charger Variant with even thicker armor. Takes 2 shots to the head from an Anti-Tank to kill it.
- Same weaknesses and behavior as a normal Charger.
Weak Spots: Head | Heavy Armor | Slow Enemy | Ranged | Critical Threat
Slow and lumbering beast that will hunker down and burrow its three tentacles into the ground. These tentacles will pop out of the ground and attack you from afar.
- Tentacles can be shot to stop their attacks but it will not kill the Impaler
- While their tentacles are burrowed and the main body is immobile, you can shoot the unarmored head to kill them.
Weak Spots: Head | Heavy Armor | Fast Enemy | Ranged | Critical Threat
Massive Heavily Armored Terminid that towers over all other Terminids. Claws will one shot you.
- Cannot be stunned by Stun Grenades.
- Can be killed with two shots from an Anti-Tank weapon to the head. Though these can be difficult to land, and you may accidentally hit the body instead.
- The green glowing abdomen and belly can be shot by the MG-206, Autocannon, or Anti-materiel Rifle. Once destroyed, the Titan will no longer be able to shoot bile.
- Bile Titans are extremely resilient, and require Heavy armor penetrating weapons to even damage them. These are a few of the ways you can kill them
- Two Orbital Railcannon Strikes.
- 500KG Bomb directly beneath.
- The entire duration of an Orbital Laser
