Today, a new major order has been issued: to destroy an entire planet. This reveal follows a teaser trailer posted on Monday. Unfortunately, the Helldivers don’t have a Death Star, so we’ll have to destroy the planet using the slow and methodical method of placing Dark Matter payloads across its surface.

“After much sacrifice, our Heroic Helldivers have successfully cleared the way to the Terminid Supercolony upon Meridia. Weaponized payloads of Dark Fluid from the research facility upon Moradesh have been deployed across the Super Destroyer Fleet. But now remains the toughest task of them all: Landfall upon Meridia. The Helldivers will deploy to the surface of Meridia to deploy partial payloads of Dark Fluid across the planet. Once a critical mass is reached, the Dark Fluid will accrete into a superdense mass, triggering total planetary implosion. So it begins, Helldivers, the great battle of our time.

A new mission type, “Deploy Dark Fluid,” is now available on all difficulties. In this mission, you’ll need to call down Dark Fluid containers, which also function as Jump Packs. These containers must be carried to the designated payload sites, where you’ll call down a Tectonic Drill. Once the Dark Fluid container is inserted into the drill, you’ll need to defend it from the bugs. Be cautious not to call down any eagles or orbitals near the drill, as you can accidentally destroy it and you will be forced to start from the beginning.
The narrative outcome and the rewards the Helldivers will receive if they succeed remain unknown.
